We are coming to the business end of the year for the Crewe Pledge.  We are identifying across the schools and colleges those who are coming to the end of their education, are looking to join the world of work in Crewe, and have not yet landed an apprentice or job position.

This is where we need to really work together to carry out the vision of the Pledge:

“Businesses in Crewe will work together with the aim of providing every young person living, studying or working in Crewe with the opportunity to develop employability related skills and personal qualities whilst in education and then a choice of a job, training or further education opportunity when they leave.”

I have spoken to many of you about the Employment Readiness Programmes we have piloted.  They have been highly successful and I now need your help to run an event as part of a programme aimed at those young people needing to secure employment.  They involve businesses running half day sessions for 12 to 24 people, ideally in their work place (although if that is a barrier we can sort venues) and Mark and I will fully support you.

You may have vacancies yourself and want to promote them (this will be a great way to find the person/ people you need), or you may not but still want to help provide the experiences and opportunities for young people to get ready for work and to secure that first post.

I really hope you will see how you can contribute, whether you are a sole trader or a multinational organisation.

Please join us on Tuesday, 2nd June at 9:30 at South Cheshire Chamber if you can help.

We can then draw up a plan for a series of half day sessions over the last six weeks of the summer term to deliver the Pledge and help these young people.

Let us know you are coming! Click here to book now.

If you can’t make it but are still keen to help let email trevor.langston@sccci.co.uk and we can see you separately.
